Started training in 1965. The first club along with Sid Wise was opened in Ilkeston in 1969. From there the membership grew and we opened many more clubs. Some of our members who reached black belt opened clubs and we became an Association. Their students who reached black belt opened clubs and so it went on. In the 1980’s and early 1990’s we had over 600 members with more than 20 clubs. All the Instructors started with us as novices and at black belt they obtained their Instructor qualifications.
I am please to say that many of the people who started in the early 1970’s are still with the Association today.
